Art Wolfe's gallery, the one that I've been remodeling, is finally done. (well, almost, the floors are being finished tonight.) It's taken several 14hr days, and weekends, but it's done. Just in time too, as the opening gala is tomorrow night and the mayor and the press will be there. I'm happy, I'm exhausted. We got our first look at the finished space today and it looks stellar. I'll try to get some pics of it tomorrow.

Oh, and if anyone has any interest there's a more public thing than the press gala on friday from 6-9pm. The gallery is doing this invitational environmental photography competition thing, and there will be wine. there is also a mariners game, so maybe just take a peek next time your down there.

AHOY!

I write so infrequently you all must think i'm dead. I've been doing as well as could possibly be expected; despite being unemployed since december, I'm a well off as ever. these last two weeks i've been landscaping with my roommate ian. We're replacing this driveway in west seattle, and it's been hell. The ground is all fill off of construction sites, the ground is around %50 cement. Imaging trying to eat oatmeal filled with rocks. We cant take a shovel full of dirt without hitting a chunk of cement, iron rebar, pipes, brick, old car parts, silverware, timber, or what-have-you. Friday, I accidentally ripped up the water main and flooded half the place, not that it was all that much of a difference thanks to the rain we've been having. The equipment's been getting mired in the slop all week, and i come home at night covered in mud. Tomorrow, the owner gets back from southeast asia, where he's been for the last month or so, and gets to see the progress so far. It'll be the first time i've met the guy, should be interesting.

oh and while i'm at it, FUCK THE SEATTLE GOVERNMENT!!!! Our original plan was to rip up this guys driveway, and that of his neighbors, install drainage, and throw down pavers (bricks, like pike place). At the last minute, the neighbors call the city to inquire about permits, and we get delayed of a full week only to get a verbal ok on only half the project. the city planner's been giving us the goddamn runaround on the other half of the project, and the reason for the delay changes every day. I think he's looking to be bribed, (he mentioned that there were "ways to expedite the permits," then changed the subject.) oh, and the city didn't even meet it's own code when it buried the powerlines to this house a couple of years back. they're supposed to be 36 inched under and they're only 12 inches deep. we've narrowly missed them twice now. worthless fuckers.

aside from that, life's been ok. did well in school last quarter. read a lot of books. etc.

Best show I've seen in a while.

I inadvertently started a team for bike-to-work month at the hospital, and am now the captain of the "blood & guts squad." We'll be ranked against all the other teams by mileage and # of new commuters, and the winners get prizes. Between one of the techs and myself we'll be doing about 250 miles a week, or about a thousand over the month. We oughtta score a trip to Hawaii or something.

ay... admitted some shit to someone on Saturday that I wish I could take back, but I cant fucking remember who the fuck I said it to.
Well, it's been a hell of a weekend. Had desert with my mother at her house for her birthday, along with her b/f, my sis and ian, and it was going OK until she started telling (inaccurate) stories about my past. I had to leave when she began to bring up an ex of mine that I truly hate, and I made it real obvious why I left. No (new) hard feelings though.

Satuday was a blast. Fixed the bike and grilled some marinaded flank steak with with Renae and Ian at their house. the party in Ballard that night was insanely good. Nick passed out early and his sister, her friend and I drew all over his body with sharpies. He drunkenly/ sleepily thought we were checking on him and reassured us "iss allgood.... im doin fine..." hehehe. I also got to hear the beatle's song "Norwegian Wood," too. (I'm reading a book named after it.) Spoke with Quinn on the phone and somehow wound up going to west Seattle for a different party. Not entirely sure it was worth the twenty dollar cab fare. Matt's a cool guy, though.

Quinn wouldnt give me anything approaching a straight answer as to when he was going to leave, so I walked to Jack in the Box, had breakfast, hopped on a bus heading downtown, passed out and woke up at the intersection of 85th & 15th not really knowing were the hell that was, (It's north of ballard.) Finally got home around 9 i think.

i then slept like a stone.
